LOST BUT WON
RUSH
Composed by Hans Zimmer, this is the main theme from the movie Rush. For this one I decided to recreate the live version. This was a tough one: there's a lot that's going on. We start with a solo cello carring the main melody (in Dm, obviously: it's Hans Zimmer) and an electric guitar with some harmonics: last November I was in Milan to assist to "The World of Hans Zimmer" and Tina Guo, the solo violoncellist, was superb. Then, things start to become complicated: the percussion and the brass are introduced, while another electric guitar plays tremolo in the background. Sections of the theme are repeted, while the rhythm of the percussion intensifies, reinforced by a shacker and by the electric guitar, which is strumming the main chords; then, after a guitar solo, the theme is repeated by some powerful French Horns. This is the end of the main, powerful part of the piece: the second one is played just by the strings. Following a brief moment where the violins play some high notes accompanied by some ambient pads, a solo violin and a solo cello repeat the melody, bringing us to the end of the piece.
This piece, so powerful yet so intimate, perfectly mirrors the film: on one hand the speed and action of the F1, on the other the dramatic rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
