Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End

This is the leitmotiv tied to the romance between Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. There isn't much to say about this piece in terms of analysis. The melody is obviously in Dm: I mean, it's composed by Hans Zimmer and it's from Pirates of the Caribbean, of course it's in Dm. The track begins with slowly ascending chords and a subtle string ostinato. It builds into a strong, slow and regal version of Jack Sparrow's theme from "The Medallion Calls". As the theme ends, a soft cello ostinato continues, doubled by an harp and followed by french horns with the rendition of the love theme. The melody is then carried out by a solo cello, along with the french horns. When the cello finishes the melody, the other strings, that were playing some harmonies, now take the lead: we're in the second part of the piece. An intense buildup leads us to a variation of the theme.

This is, in my opinion, one of the best themes composed by Hans Zimmer: it's intense, powerful yet also delicate and soaring.
