The soundtrack of Inception, composed by the Maestro Hans Zimmer, is simply amazing. There are a lot of incredible pieces in the score, but the one that really stands out is Time. The track is structured over a simple cord progression, IVm-Im-III-VII in Am, which is kept throughout the piece with a small substitution to IVmaj7 sometimes: yet, the constant buildup, starting with a mellow piano until an explosive electric guitar, transforms this simple melody in a wonderful masterpiece. The strings, the ostinatos, the pulsating synths: they all lead to a powerful, intense climax. This is Hans Zimmer's genius: he teaches us that even the semplicity of four chords can turn into absolute beauty.
